A proposal to introduce other elements to our uncut-contribution
Taken into account what is stated on the rietveld-site about uncut: “Rietveld UnCut seeks genuine interaction with the audience” coupled with my belief that text is certainly not the sole carrier of communication and a wish to make our contribution visual intriguing, I propose to add a couple of elements to the existing proposal (as outlined by Nathalie):
- also communication with symbols, signs, smells and sounds
- work in groups of e.g. 4 people (so we can take turns; otherwise you are busy on Friday for 6 hours and on Saturday for 12 hours)
- the audience can (also) trigger the communication
- a build-up of suspense
- visual intriguing place
Based on these elements there are lots of possibilities. Just a few ideas about their realization:
- We communicate with the audience not only with texts but also by showing symbols and signs. In combination with sounds and smells. These other communication modes can be translated into texts. And vice versa.
- A stage setting of 3 people and one at the microphone. The people on the stage come and go to the audience. Selecting the temporary communication partner or being selected.
- The audience can trigger communication by e.g. pulling a chord (like in a marionette theatre). And each chord refers to one of the communicators on the stage.
- The build-up of suspense could be that the communicators still go to a microphone but wait there for a while – maybe until a certain number of communication moments took place – or a certain time. Or clock that is ticking – could be a projected clock.
- Working with chords and props make already a lot more interesting. Maybe detection gates can still be used for the entrance ;-) . After being checked the audience gets communication-coins to be used. Or one of us is a VJ beaming images and/or videos that are linked to the result of the communications.
OK, just some examples to the proposed elements.
About the content of our texts/subject:
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWe could look at something that is happening in quite some countries, right now, and peculiar enough we don't see it appearing much in the media: F.A.: for 18 days now there are demonstrations at Wallstreet. Non violent, people staying day and night, 700 arrests some days ago. Worldwide there are big demonstrations, in the u.s. bigger numbers than the vietnamdemonstrations. What is happening? Why don't we see this in the paper/in the news? Lateron I can send some links, I have contact with someone who follows the revolutions through twitter and wikicentral. He sends me info later.
There is worldwide contact between the people demonstrating in different counties, through twitter and othet social media. They even order food for eachother, so someone in chili pays for a pizza in washington ect. :-).
BeantwoordenVerwijderenOne way we could use this subject is by contacting people trough twitter, asking them what they want us to say, and use that as our speaking-texts. Or not-live, but just use texts they twitter to eachother.
Yes nice posts!! with the adding of elements and thinking in more direction, try to build in suspense, maybe indeed the gate thing and overall adding visualising elements, in order to make sure we communicate. But what do we communicate and why,,, , that was I was dwelling on and I find answers in text and poems, but they seem so fragile in relation to the uncut atmosphere that I experienced before. (if we only could totally influence that atmposphere into something fragile, yes) however I find a perfect match in SIlvia's post : it gives me the why there at that time with these people. We would be busy with WHAT IS HAPPENING IN TE WORLD and how we are related, adding...
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWHAT IS THE ROLE OF MEDIA IN THIS?? isn't it strange?!
WE ARE WITH LOTS OF PEOPLE at uncut, WE CAN TAP IN TO WHAT IS REALLY GOING ON and use ourselves to make a translation (into anything) being a broadcasting machine (as Nill put it nice) or we are
THE JOURNALIST AND CREATOR --- AT ONCE.
